What is a Livable Centers Initiative Plan?

The Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) is a grant program that incentivizes local jurisdictions, like the City of Powder Springs, to re-envision their communities as vibrant, walkable places that offer increased mobility options, encourage healthy lifestyles and provide improved access to jobs and services.
The ARC board has allocated $600 million through 2050 to fund transportation projects resulting from completed LCI studies.

For more information about the LCI program, visit the Atlanta Regional Commission's website.
What Will This Updated Plan Do For Powder Springs?
The City of Powder Springs last updated its "Springs in Motion" LCI Plan in 2016.

This updated plan will continue to support sustainable growth, vibrant community spaces, and multi-modal transportation, and will make new recommendations related to:
-
Urban design and land use
-
Catalytic development opportunities
-
Transportation and mobility strategies
-
Arts and culture integration
-
Sustainable infrastructure
Ultimately, the updated document will include:
-
A detailed existing conditions analysis (where are we today?)
-
A redevelopment strategy
-
A multi-modal transportation plan
-
Placemaking recommendations
-
A clear implementation roadmap
